Introduction and Notes about this Study

Monday April 27,2026

Welcome to our Summer Devotional Plan for Kingdom Women. Our study, As You Go, has been a wonderful journey through the Psalms. During our summer schedule, we are going to dive into modern day hymns and worship songs with an emphasis on Scripture that ties in with the heart behind the songs.

Each week, a new song and study will be posted. Enjoy listening, intentionally reading through the lyrics, getting a brief background of the song, and exploring 5 Scriptures to read through the week.

Here is a guide to Bible mapping as you read through the verses each week. Bible map and journal about all of them or just pick one to really focus on. We pray you are blessed with this study!

BIBLE MAPPING STRUCTURE (DEEP-DIVE FORMAT)

1. 📖 Read the Passage Slowly

  • Read the passage multiple times
  • Try reading in more than one translation

Prompt: What word, phrase, or verse stands out immediately?

2. 🔍 Observe (What does it say?)

  • Focus on the 5 W's: who, what, when, where, why
  • Who is speaking?
  • Who is the audience?
  • What is happening (context)?
  • When and where is this in history?
  • Repeated words/themes that tell us why?
  • Commands, promises, contrasts?

Dig Deeper Challenge:Circle repeated words. Why might the author emphasize them?

3. 🧠 Interpret (What does it mean?)

  • What does this reveal about God's character?
  • What is the purpose of this text?
  • What does the context of the passage mean?

Word Study Prompt:Look up 1 key word in Hebrew/Greek.

  • What does it mean beyond English?
  • How does that deepen the verse?

4. ❤️ Connect (What does it reveal to me?)

  • Where do I see myself in this passage?
  • What emotions does this stir?
  • What tension or conviction do I feel?

5. 🔥 Apply (What should I do?)

Challenge:Write one specific action you will take in the next 24–48 hours.

6. 🙏 Pray the Scripture

Turn the passage into a personal prayer.

7. ✍️ Reflect & Respond

  • Journal a 2–3 sentence takeaway
  • Write a “truth statement”:

“Because God is ______, I will ______.”

8. 🎵 Song Connection

What lyric connects to this passage?

  • How does the story behind the song deepen the Scripture?

🌿 EXAMPLE

📖 Psalm 46:1-3

(Paired with “It Is Well with My Soul”)

🔍 Observe

  • Repeated ideas/words/phrases: times of trouble/distress/chaos
  • Contrast: chaos vs stability
  • Strong imagery: mountains falling, waters roaring, sea surging

🧠 Interpret

God is not distant in crisis—He is present and active help.

Word Study:“Refuge” (Hebrew: machseh) → shelter, place of trust, protection

❤️ Connect

Where do I feel like life is “giving way” right now?

🔥 Apply

Instead of trying to control the situation, I will run to God first.

🙏 Prayer

“God, You are my refuge even when everything feels unstable…”

✍️ Truth Statement

Because God is my refuge, I will not fear what I cannot control.

🎵 Song Connection

“It is well… when peace like a river…”→ Peace is not absence of storm—it’s presence of God.
