Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
O, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.
This is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long;
this is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long.
Perfect submission, perfect delight,
visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
angels descending, bring from above echoes of mercy,
whispers of love.
This is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long;
this is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long.
Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest;
watching and waiting, looking above,
filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
This is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long;
this is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long.
“This is my story, this is my song…”
Fanny Crosby lost her sight as an infant—but she never saw herself as lacking. Instead, she described her blindness as a gift that helped her “see” Christ more clearly.
Despite physical limitations, she wrote over 8,000 hymns, pouring out joy, confidence, and deep assurance in Jesus. Her life was not marked by bitterness—but by overflowing praise.
“Blessed Assurance” is not shallow optimism. It is rooted certainty. Crosby knew where her hope was anchored, and nothing—not even darkness—could shake it.
Scripture: Hebrews 10:22 — “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith…”
Ask yourself:
- What is “your story” of faith right now?
- Where do you find assurance in your relationship with Christ?
- What threatens your confidence in God?
